Remove old database record after entry into new database Can't Post

Writing a PHP page that will connect to database1, and pull 1 record at a time. The page will show me a form button with all the records info in it, which, when clicked, will submit the info to a perl script for processing and entry into database2. After the perl script runs, it will bring up the same page, but with the NEXT record from database1, ready for processing. How can I get the PHP page to delete the previously processed record and show me the next one? I cannot modify the perl script as it is within a third party program, I just need it's processing capabilities. I suppose I could always have the PHP page pull ALL records each time, but that would extend processing time. So far all I have is the PHP page that connects to database1, and shows the records.
